Microsoft E3 2009 Press Conference

DreamStation.cc provided live updates from the Microsoft Press Conference that happened in Los Angeles, CA for E3 2009. Below is the archive of all that was mentioned at the press conference:

  • It’s Beatles mania all over again as Microsoft shows off the next incarnation of The Beatles Rock Band. Paul and Ringo make an appearance along with Yoko Ono.
  • Tony Hawk comes out to reveal latest in Tony Hawk skateboarding series: Tony Hawk’s Ride which will use a skateboard deck as a type of controller as shown a week ago. Video of various professional skaters shown getting “hands on” experience with Tony Hawk’s Ride.
  • Modern Warfare 2 shown. No longer Call of Duty. Looks a lot more action oriented not entirely gunplay as the gameplay features some mountain climbing amongst the typical shooter fare. The game looks amazing and will be exclusive to Xbox 360 initially.
  • Final Fantasy XIII running on the Xbox 360 shown fully playable. Final Fantasy XIII targeting a Spring 2010 release.
  • Next Epic Games title announced for Xbox LIVE Arcade: Shadow Complex. Over 10 hours long and 120 items to discover. Coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade this Summer.
  • Joy Ride unveiled as the next Xbox LIVE Arcade game to feature your avatar. Free to download and free to play. Share tracks with friends whether they’ve purchased them or not. Coming this Winter.
  • Crackdown 2 trailer shown.
  • Left 4 Dead trailer shown. Coming November 17 to Xbox 360 and PC.
  • Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction trailer shown. Sam Fisher appears to be searching for the people who kidnapped his daughter. Coming this Fall exclusively on Xbox 360
  • Forza Motorsports 3 announced. Coming this October. New graphics engine running at 60 fps. 400 Manufaturers and 450 different vehicles, they strive to become the definitive racing game of this generation. Create and upload hi-def video for community. Incredible video of user created video shown.
  • Halo 3 ODST video shown. Gameplay shown featuring ODST shooter action very reminiscent of Metroid Prime games complete with visor view. Coming September 22nd with co-op play.
  • Bungie announces top secret project Halo Reach coming sometime in 2010. Purchase Halo 3 ODST and get an invitation into the Reach multiplayer Beta.
  • Alan Wake gameplay shown. A survival horror/psychological thriller that will be shipping Spring 2010.
  • Xbox LIVE partnership with Last.FM coming later this year for Xbox LIVE Gold members for no additional charge.
  • Xbox LIVE to allow Netflix users to allow queue changes and updates with push of one button.
  • Zune Video Service announced for this Fall. “Instant on 1080p HD” announces 1080p videos with instant movie access, no delays, no discs necessary.
  • LIVE party announced to share movies, music, and other experiences with friends.
  • Xbox LIVE Facebook partnership announced. Instant Facebook access from your Xbox 360, which allows you to check your friends profiles and even friend them on Xbox LIVE if they have a gamertag linked to their profile. Facebook Connect will allow you to post vides and screenshots beginning with Tiger Woods Golf ‘10.
  • Twitter also coming to Xbox LIVE.
  • Hideo Kojima introduced to announce Metal Gear Solid Rising for the Xbox 360 featuring Raiden. Completely new Metal Gear game built for the Xbox 360.
  • Video shown of new control scheme that uses no controllers, just the movement and voice of the user.”Project Natal” will work with all Xbox 360’s past, present, and future.
  • Steven Spielberg introduced to discuss how gaming can progress beyond the typical controller.
  • Demo of Project Natal is shown with Breakout type game, called Ricochet, where the player uses their body to hit balls at blocks. Second demo called, Paint Party shows the user creating a painting.
  • Peter Molyneaux from Lionhead Studios comes out to showcase a demo they’ve been working on with a game (?) with a child named Milo, think Seaman, without the creepy Seaman creature. A “real boy” that you can interact with.
