Well, it's been a while, but to commemorate Christmas, I'll be giving you all a themed series of the POTD. Today's POTD is Stantler.
![]() Stantler, the Big Horn Pokemon. A Stantler's curved antlers create a strange state where reality is distorted. In addition, whoever stares at these antlers becomes mesmerized, followed by a loss of senses and the ability to stand. The round black balls between the antlers can be crushed into a powder that aids sleeping. Stantler's power of illusion even aid Santa during his rounds on December 24. The best moveset for Stantler would be: Ability:Intimidate Item:Brightpowder Hidden Power- Water/Psychic Return Thunder Wave/Reflect Confuse Ray/Light Screen Stantler's Intimidate lowers the foe's attack, which helps since its lowest stat is Defense. Brightpowder may kick in and save Stantler from a supper effective blow. Stantler has decent attack, speed, and special attack, but it isn't a standout in any category, so I included one Physical and one Special attack. It's a toss up between HP-Water and Psychic--if you want Stantler to be effective against all types of Pokemon, use HP-Water; if you want Stantler to cover its weakness but retain its ineffectiveness against Rock- and Steel-types, use Psychic. Return is a must for almost all Normal-type Pokemon, since it gets STAB and is just powerful in general. Next you can go with either the Annoyer moveset or the All-Purpose Tank moveset. It's pretty self-explanatory; just use Thunder Wave and Confuse Ray to stall your opponent while you deliver the heavy hits, or use Reflect and Light Screen to buff up your Stantler into a Shuckle on steroids. It's up to you which way you decide to go. Well, that concludes the first Christmas Edition of the POTD. Hope you all enjoyed it, and tune in tommorrow when I feature Delibird. -------------------- Better watch out come Pokemon Pearl....
I'll be using Doridon, Elekible, Golduck, Heracross, Metagross, and Dorapion to totally own you. |

![]() Delibird, the Delivery Pokemon. It nests on sharp cliffs, delivering food to chicks and humans alike. This Pokemon has even saved lives by giving its food to lost travelers. However, when attacked, Delibird throws its food at the enemy. Santa even has a Delibird that delivers presents for children all over the world. The best moveset for Delibird would be: Ability: Vital Spirit Item: Focus Band Ice Beam Water Pulse Rapid Spin(egg) Aerial Ace/Future Sight(egg) Delibird is a very weak Pokemon. Its stats will never reach 300, even if EV Trained. However, Delibird is a very fun Pokemon to use in casual battles. Vital Spirit ensures that it will not fall asleep, and Focus Band may cover its low defenses. Ice Beam is for STAB, and Water Pulse covers the Fire-type, Delibird's sworn enemy. Water Pulse may also confuse the opponent and therefore save Delibird from a short battle. Rapid Spin can get Delibird out of a bind, or a Fire Spin for that matter, but it will hardly do any damage. Aerial Ace is great for STAB, and Future Sight can hit the enemy even if they fainted your Delibird. How's that for revenge? But if you refuse to see Delibird being such a warrior, just use its Present attack and get a few ho-ho-ho's. Well, that wraps up another Christmas Edition POTD. Tune in tommorrow as Jynx gets her merry close-up. -------------------- Better watch out come Pokemon Pearl....

Sorry for the delay; I've been busy with exams and visiting relatives.
![]() Jynx, the HumanShape Pokemon. Jynx walks as if she were dancing, and by moving her hips, she seduces Trainers. In addition, she has a distinct rythm that changes with her moods. Jynx also speaks a language similar to English even though her primary language is dancing. However, Jynx do have several distinct cries that have unique meanings. Santa even has a Jynx that Ash and company rescued for him. The best moveset for Jynx would have to be: Ability: Oblivious Item: Salac Berry Water Pulse Ice Beam Psychic Lovely Kiss How ironic. Jynx can seduce others, but she cannot be seduced herself due to her Oblivious ability. Salac Berry will raise her Speed in a pinch. Water Pulse covers one of her weaknesses, the Fire-type. Plus it can confuse the enemy, which is always a positive. Ice Beam and Psychic are in for STAB, and Psychic may lower the ememy's special defense, making Jynx more powerful. Lastly, Lovely Kiss will force the foe into a slumber, letting Jynx lay the smackdown on your opponent. Overall, Jynx can be a very powerful Pokemon, but only if you take advantage of Sleep and Confusion. EV Training: To get the mo-mo-most out of you Jynx, raise her Special Attack and Speed, with any remaining in HP. Again, sorry for the delay, and be sure to tune in next time as Glalie gets a "cool" close-up. -------------------- Better watch out come Pokemon Pearl....

Well, my birthday was this week, and I'd like to dedicate today's POTD to my favorite Pokemon of all time.
![]() Rhydon, the Drill Pokemon. Rhydon can live in molten lava at up to 3,600 degrees due to its armor-like hide. While the hide repels lava, it makes Rhydon insensitive. After an evolution from the dim-witted Rhyhorn, Rhydon begins to walk on its hind legs, and its brain continues to develop to the point where it rivals human intelligence. This Pokemon is so powerful it can shatter a diamond in the rough by using its drill-shaped horn. The best moveset for Rhydon would be.... Ability: Rock Head Item: Brightpowder Megahorn Earthquake Rock Slide Double-Edge First of all, I'm totally biased towards this guy. In my opinion, he's the best Pokemon there is, and with Ninjask around, Rhydon gets the support he needs. Rock Head--simply put, Rhydon takes no damage from Double-Edge. Equip Rhydon with Brightpowder; it just may kick in when your opponent uses Surf against you. Now then, I know what you're thinking--Why Rhydon?! He's slow as a can of stinkin' molasses, so why even bother? Well, I'll tell you this: Rhydon may be slow, but it has one of the hgihest attack ratings out of all 386 Pokemon. I could talk about this brute all day, but what makes him a force to be reckoned with is Ninjask. Think about it--Ninjask stalls for a while using moves like Double Team and Protect, and every turn its speed increases. Follow that up with as many Sword Dances as possible, then Baton Pass off to Rhydon. If you thought he was tough enough, wait 'till you see him buffed to the max. Anyways, that's my favorite Pokemon for you. Here's to another great year! -------------------- Better watch out come Pokemon Pearl....

Emerald Version hits the US today, and to celebrate, Emerald's star is being reviewed today:
![]() Rayquaza, the Sky High Pokemon. This Pokemon lives in Earth's atmosphere, where it spends the majority of its life. It has been known to come to Earth on order to destroy a Pokemon that has invaded its territory, such as Deoxys from Pokemon: Destiny Deoxys. Rayquaza can learn a wide variety of moves, making it one of the most versatile Pokemon. Its unique Air Lock ability nullifies all weather conditions and their effects. For a hard-hitting Special Attacker, use this moveset: Ability: Air Lock Item: Choice Band Nature: Modest(Special Attack +, Attack -) Dragon Claw Crunch Flamethrower Thunderbolt Rayquaza has a maximum Special Attack of 438. That's a LOT of power. With the Choice Band, Rayquaza's power is increased even more. The only problem is you can only use one move, but since Rayquaza's Special Attack is so incredibly high already, that won't be a problem. Of course, raise Rayquaza's Special Attack as much as possible, with any remaining in your preference. For a speedy phsyical attacker, consider the following moveset: Ability: Air Lock Item: Liechi Berry Nature: Adamant(Attack +, Special Attack -) Dragon Dance Aerial Ace Earthquake Rock Slide Rayquaza's Special Attack isn't the only high stat--It's Attack power can also reach a max of 438, easily making it one of the most powerful Pokemon around. Weak moves like Aerial Ace and mediocre moves such as Rock Slide suddenly get a much needed power boost once Rayquaza uses them. Dragon Dance improves both Rayquaza's Speed and Attack, which makes it into a nice sweeper. Earthquake--it's already the most powerful Ground-type move, and with Rayquaza at the wheel, it becomes devastating. And if by some chance that Rayquaza is in the red, its Liechi Berry will increase its power even further. For EV Training, raise Rayquaza's Attack, with any remaining in Speed. The best overall move for Rayquaza woud have to be: Ability: Air Lock Item: Silk Scarf/Dragon Claw/Magnet/Charcoal(You pick.) Nature: Mild(Special Attack +, Defense -) Dragon Claw Flamethrower Extremespeed Thunderbolt This moveset takes advantage of STAB with Dragon Claw, eliminates Ice-types with Flamethrower, and if a Water/Ice-type shows up, there's the handy Thunderbolt. Last of all, Extremespeed is for when you need one last hit to win. For EV Training, raise Rayquaza's Special Attack, with any remaining in Attack. Rayquaza's sworn enemy: Regice. Regice's max Special Defense is an unheard of 548. That makes Rayquaza's stats look like a Weedle's. Against Regice, use your most powerful Fire attacks or Rock Slide. Well gang, I hope you enjoyed today's POTD powered by Pokemon Emerald Version. Until next time--go train those Pokemon! -------------------- Better watch out come Pokemon Pearl....

![]() Minun, the Cheering Pokemon. As you can tell from its name, Minun makes a great cheerleader. At a mere .4 m tall and only 4.2 kg in weight, Minun are extremely tiny Pokemon with very little defense. However, when charged up with a Plusle parter, Minun becomes a force to be reckoned with. For Single Battles, this is the best Minun moveset: Ability: Minus Item: Focus Band Thunder Wave Light Screen Thunderbolt Charm Since this is for Single Battling, throw Minun's ability out the window; it'll do no good at all. Period. First of all, Minun's defense just plain sucks. With a max of 218, a Mud Shot can easily take down the chumpy cheerleader. So why even use a Minun? Well, Minun's defense may be low, but its special defense isn't lacking at all. With a max of 295, Minun can become a serious Special Tank with the aid of Light Screen. If Minun faints, the Light Screen will help out your next Pokemon, that is until five turns are up. For a cheerleading Tag Battler, use this Minun moveset: Ability: Minus Item: Brightpowder Helping Hand Protect Light Screen Charm This is where Minun's true potential really shines--Tag Battles, also known as Double Battles. In order to use Minun's full power, have a Plusle with high special attack be your Minun's partner. Plusle is the attacker, while Minun cheers Plusle on with Helping Hand. Plusle's special defense stat is slightly lower than Minun's, so Light Screen will greatly help the two Cheering Pokemon to survive. Charm is in here to weaken tough physical attackers, and Protect is here to ensure Minun can stick around to cheer on the next partner if Plusle faints. Brightpowder may save the day for Minun as well. EV's--For a Single-battling Minun, raise its Special Attack and Speed with any remaining in Special Defense. For a Tag Battler, raise its Special Defense and Defense. Well gang, that wraps up another edition of the Pokemon of the Day. So the next time you see a Minun, remember this--HIT IT WITH A PHYSICAL ATTACK!! -------------------- Better watch out come Pokemon Pearl....

I've got a lot of free time on my hands now, and I'm going to try to bring you all the POTD...daily.
![]() Glalie, the Face Pokemon. Glalie start off as tiny Snoruts, weighing in at a mere 37 pounds and a little over 2 feet tall. Snorunts can predict when it will snow in the morning, and for good reason--Over time a Snorunt evolves by freezing the moisture surrounding it, thus a Glalie is formed. As a Glalie, they can instantly freeze the surrounding moisture. However, this newfound ability isn't all a Snorunt gains as it evolves. Glalie are a whopping 565.5 pounds and almost 5 feet tall! These giants tower over their former selves with ease. However, despite this extreme transformation, Glalie aren't very strong. With a max of 284 in all stats, excluding Hit Points, these Pokemon are hardly used in competetive battles. There are several ways to approach a Glalie: 1) The Special Attacker Hold Item: Mystic Water Blizzard Crunch Water Pulse Rain Dance As mentioned before, Glalie is a very mediocre Pokemon. Its large movepool can make for some interesting movesets, though. This particular moveset can be used to upset Fire-types with Rain Dance and Water Pulse, and Blizzard becomes a powerful attack thanks to STAB. Glalie is also a decent Cruncher, but it probably won't KO any Pokemon with it. 2) The Physical Attacker Hold Item: Liechi Berry Earthquake Shadow Ball Return Explosion We continue Glalie's immense mediocritiness(Yes I just made up a word)with the Physical Attacker moveset. Sadly, Glalie doesn't have much in terms of physical attacks, but it can again shock Fire-types with Earthquake. Return is simply a powerful attack to be used against most types. This moveset also makes puny Psychic-types quiver in fear--Shadow Ball does much more damage then Crunch ever will. As soon as Glalie is on its last leg, use its powered-up Explosion attack to finish the job. 3) The Tank/Staller Hold Item: Chesto Berry Attract Toxic Rest Protect Now here's an interesting moveset--the Tank/Staller. Start off with Toxic, Protect once, then use Attract, and Protect again. As soon as Glalie runs low on HP, use Rest. Then just continue using Protect and Rest until the opponent faints. Chances are Glalie won't plow through all three of your opponents, but who knows, you may get lucky. Glalie's worst enemy--Skarmory. The Steel/Flying-type has extremely high Defense, and most of Glalie's moves won't even scratch Skarmory, especially if the Skarmory has been EV Trained to be a full-fledged tank. All in all, Glalie is a mediocre Pokemon, simply put. However, its wide movepool opens up a variety of movesets. My suggestion: See what your Glalie's nature is, and use one of the above three movesets depending on what best suits your nature. If your Glalie has a Hasty nature, or any other nature that increases Speed, take your pick. Glalie isn't a Pokemon for competetive battling, so have some fun with it. Well, that's all for today. Be sure to check out the POTD tommorrow because we're headed for Johto in search of Togetic. Hope to see you then, or be seen by you then. You get the drift. -------------------- Better watch out come Pokemon Pearl....

![]() Togetic, the Happiness Pokemon. Togetic literally thrive off of happy Trainers; they even appear before kind strangers. Thought to be rulers of the Mirage Kingdom, Togetic shower other with happiness and can float in midair. The more love a Togetic receives, the longer it can float without flapping its tiny wings. The best moveset for Togetic would have to be: Hold Item: Salac Berry Thunder Wave/Endure Swagger Psych Up Baton Pass Simply put, Togetic lacks Attack, so don't even think about teaching yours Fly, Brick Break, or Shadow Ball. Togetic's Special Attack is slightly better, but it doesn't even break 300 at max stats. However, Togetic is a pretty solid tank, mainliy in Special Defense. This moveset is simple in theory but can be a lifesaver with a little luck. Here's how it works: Use Thunder Wave to paralyze the opponent, then Swagger and Psych Up. If Togetic is low on health, the Salac Berry will kick in and then you should use Baton Pass. If Togetic still has high HP, keep using Swagger and Psych Up until its HP reaches the red zone, then Baton Pass. An alternative is simply Swaggering and Psyching Up, then Enduring the next hit and Baton Passing. So swap this weak Pokemon for a big bruiser and whoop up on your opponent. Togetic's Worst Enemy--Crobat. Crobat's way faster than Togetic, so it can dish more hits in the longrun over your once-happy friend. Crobat can also use Haze, completely shutting down your Togetic strategy. EV Training--You can go about this in two ways--Either max out Defense or Special Defense. Whatever you decide to max out is entirely your preference, as each one will give you advantages in certain situations. Put whatever's left over in the opposite kind of defense. Well, it was short and sweet, but I hope everyone enjoyed today's POTD. Tommorrow we look at a nice compliment to today's POTD--the incredibly brutal Pinsir. -------------------- Better watch out come Pokemon Pearl....

Sorry for the delay everyone. My out-of-state friend is coming to visit for a week and I've been cramming in summer homework and cleaning the house. So here I am with my precious minutes of free time bringing you yet another edition of the Pokemon of the Day. As promised, Pinsir reigns supreme today.
![]() Pinsir, the Stagbeetle Pokemon. Pinsir are ruthless Pokemon--if they fail to crush their opponent in their large pincers, they swing the enemy around and toss it. Despite their brutal actions, Pinsir become helpless in cold weather. For this reason, Pinsir live in areas of warmer climate, and when gets cold they are often found sleeping in forests, where they dwell amongst the treetops or roots, or burrows. For this reason Pinsirs usually have a layer of dirt on their hard bodies in the morning. However this dirt easily falls off after a long day of fighting. The best moveset for Pinsir would have to be: Ability: Hyper Cutter Item: Leichi Berry Brick Break Swords Dance Rock Slide Earthquake Pinsir is an immense fighting force, capable of wiping out entire parties if used correctly. Most Trainers are aware of a Pinsir's massive 383 maximum attack, but a little known fact is its Defense--at a max of 328, Pinsir can stand up to several of its weaknesses with ease. This moveset is really simple. Earthquake counters Fire-types, Rock Slide crushes Flying-types, and Brick Break will take down Normal-types with ease. Swords Dance...what's not to like? Besides gaining an insurmountable amount of Attack, the move also helps against the deadly Wobbufett. Since Pinsir will usually be slower than the opposition(other than some Rock- and Ground-types), a strong attack will activate the Leichi Berry just in time for Pinsir to unleash a can of whoop ######. And don't worry about Pinsir's attack ever being lowered; Hyper Cutter keeps Pinsir livin' large. And if you're smart and you combine a Baton Passer, such as the previous POTD, Togetic, Pinsir will be one heck of a tough Pokemon to beat. Pinsir's Worst Enemy--Fast moving Fire-types such as Typhlosion and Charizard can really lay the smackdown on Pinsir, but if they can't finish off the job, you can bet Pinsir will. EV Training--If you're combining Pinsir with a Baton Passer, max its Defense with any remaning in Attack. If your Pinsir is soloing, then max its Attack and put the rest in Defense. This Pokemon is so good, I DARE you all not to try it out sometime. In the meantime, you can be thinking about the next POTD--Poliwrath. Hope to see you then. -------------------- Better watch out come Pokemon Pearl....
I'll be using Doridon, Elekible, Golduck, Heracross, Metagross, and Dorapion to totally own you. |
