![]() Today's POTD is Tyranitar, one of the most fearsome and feared Pokemon to ever exist. With it's giant size and outstanding power...it can be a brilliantly used Pokemon, or an opponent that's extrmely hard to beat. The best moveset for Tyranitar would have to be... Ability:Sand Stream Item:Leftovers Nature:Sassy Rock Slide Crunch Flamethrower Earthquake Tyranitar, the Armor Pokemon. Tyranitar is an extremely powerful Pokemon that can use a wide variety of moves and movesets. Rock Slide and Earthquake take care of it's weaknesses it has in battle. Flamethrower is just more of an "added" move along with Crunch. Tyranitar has alot of staying power in battle, it's even quite strong when paired up with it's weaknesses! Other moves you could've included are Dragon Claw and Blizzard...but it all depends on your liking. And the ability, Sand Stream, can throw your opponent off bigtime. It will start a sandstorm whenever it enters a battle. But with the moveset, try your own considering it's one of the most versitile Pokemon ever I think. EV Training:To get the most out of your Tyranitar, concentrate on maxing out it's Attack and Special Defense. Put the rest on Speed since it can be a bit slow at times. Strategy for Contest I don't really have a Contest strategy since I haven't really thought of one. Sorry. Strategy against Tyranitar Since it's EXTREMELY slow and sluggish, not to mention weak to Grass and Water moves...try and hit it with either a fast Pokemon, or it's weaknesses and it should be toast. Sorry for the lack of info on this beatstick of a Pokemon. I will edit when I find more info and when I have the time. Join me tomorrow for another POTD. Until then...kudos. |

![]() Today's POTD is Pineco, the Bagworm Pokemon. It makes it's shell larger in size by adding additional layers of tree bark to it, but as a result, the excess weight doesn't really bother it at all. It rarely moves from one location, just waits for its prey. It spits out a fluid that allows it to stick to a tree. And it hardens dramatically when it comes in contact with air. If disturbed while eating, Pineco will drop down onto the disturbance and explode all over them. The best moveset for Pineco would have to be... Ability:Sturdy Item:Leftovers Nature:Impish Spikes Rapid Spin Counter Earthquake Pineco's Defensive stat is through the roof here folks. It's also the best stat it has. The moveset I chose for it was because it has the Defense...right? That's where Counter gets the job done. With a Pineco...one hit KOs are a foreign language with the ability Sturdy, which works well with Counter too. Although it is weak to Fire Pokemon, I think that Earthquake should handle them fairly well. Also, you might want to consider Rock Slide in place of Earthquake to cover it's flying type weakness. Although I'll leave that choice to you...not me. EV Training:To get the most out of your Pineco...concentrate on maxing out the Defense stat, with any remaining going to Special Defense and HP. Strategy for Contest Ability:Sturdy Item:Green Scarf Nature:Calm/Gentle/Careful/Sassy Toxic Spikes Giga Drain Reflect If you do the moves in this order for the Contest you shouldn't have any problems. 1st:Spikes 2nd:Giga Drain 3rd:Toxic 4th:Reflect 5th:Spikes Rinse and repeat as needed. Strategy against Pineco Pineco has a crappy Special Defense stat...so hit it with its weakness, Fire, for all it's worth and you should defeat it in no time. Join me tomorrow for another POTD. Until then...kudos. |

![]() Today's POTD is Unown, the Symbol Pokemon. The only Pokemon that can exist in all forms of the alphabet, and the ! and ? symbols too. They're shaped like heiroglyphs on ancient tablets. It's been claimed that all 28 versions are somewhat related. Its flat, thin body is always stuck on walls. Their shape appears to have some meaning, although I can't really place my finger on it. Because there are so many different forms of it...it is said that each one contains a variety of abilities unique to one-another. It's still a mystery to which came first...ancient writing...or Unown. The best moveset for Unown would have to be... Ability:Levitate Item:Twisted Spoon Nature:Modest Hidden Power Psychic Unown is mostly a weak Pokemon, so what I did...was try to get the best advantage with Hidden Power Psychic instead of raw power. Making it a Psychic type gets an extra boost with STAB, attaching Twisted Spoon gives it yet ANOTHER STAB boost, and if you max your EVs out in Special Attack it should get as powerful as humanly possible. With that, it should be possible to topple most Pokemon in one or two hits. As for the Ability, Levitate makes it so Unown can't be hit by Ground type moves. Although I don't think it'll prove that useful since Unown has a crappy Defensive stat, and will most likely be taken out in one shot. EV Training:To get the most out of your Unown...focus on maxing out its Special Attack...with any remaining in Speed and HP. Strategy for Contest Ability:Levitate Item:Twisted Spoon Nature:Calm/Gentle/Careful/Sassy Hidden Power Psychic Not really much to say about his contest strategy since it can only use one single move. So it's not really that good in contests since you'll be using the same move over and over again in battle. So what you need to do, instead of attacking, is pray. Pray that it won't get KOd that is. Strategy against Unown Unown have probably one of the worst Defensive stats out of any Pokemon in existance. As a result, it should take the bullet from most (if not all) attacks. Join me tomorrow for another POTD. Until then, kudos. |

![]() Today's POTD is Murkrow, the Darkness Pokemon. Feared by many people, it is believed to bring misfortune and bad luck to all those who spot it at night. It will lure it's predators into a Dark Mountain where it will lead them on a winding path that will make their predator become lost in the Mountain. It hides any shiny objects it finds in a secret location. Murkrow and Meowth have been known to loot eachother's stashes of shiny treasures. It has even been rumored that Murkrow steal rings and other jewelry off of women. The best moveset for Murkrow would have to be... Ability:Insomnia Item:Liechi Berry Nature:Jolly Drill Peck Confuse Ray Shadow Ball Hidden Power Fighting Murkrow has been given a poor Defensive stat overall, however its Speed and Attack will make up for it...making it both a nice Physical Sweeper or a Special Sweeper also. Baton Passing Speed and Attack from Ninjask would benefit this Pokemon greatly. The EV's are to boost Murkrow's Attack and Speed dramatically. The nature, Jolly, helps promote Murkrow's speed while hindering the stat it isn't using, Special Attack. Drill Peck gains STAB due to being a part Flying type. It also loses its weakness to Fighting types. However, its chances of surviving most strong physical/special attacks are low. Use Confuse Ray against your opponent so it gives the chance of your opponent hitting itself, and gives you time to attack too. Shadow Ball and HP fighting I shoved in here to basically cover some more types. If you wish, replace HP Fighting with HP Rock...but I personally wouldn't. EV Training:To get the most out of your Murkrow...concentrate on maxing your Attack, with anything else going to Speed and Defense. Strategy for Contest Ablity:Insomnia Item:Green Scarf Nature:Calm/Gentle/Careful/Sassy Aerial Ace Confuse Ray Shadow Ball Perish Song If you do the moves in this order for the Contest you shouldn't have any problems. 1st:Aerial Ice 2nd:Confuse Ray 3rd:Shadow Ball 4th:Perish Song 5th:Aerial Ice Rinse and repeat as needed. Strategy against Murkrow Murkrow's defenses are both equally low...so any attack except Psychic should topple it. Electric and Ice moves would both work almost as well too I guess. Do what I said and it's roasted in no time. Join me later for another POTD. Until then, kudos. |

![]() Sunkern, the Seed Pokemon. It may drop out of the sky suddenly. If attacked by a Spearow or another hunter, it will violently shake it's leaves. It lives by drinking only dewdrops from under leaves. It is very weak....it's only defense is to shake it's leaves at it's attacker. It tries to move as little as it possibly can so it can conserve the nutrients it has stored in it's body for evolution. The best moveset for Sunkern would have to be... Ability:Chlorophyll Item:Salac Berry Nature:Bold Sunny Day Leech Seed Toxic SolarBeam Sunkern has some of the worst stats in the game, all of them are at a base of 30, which doesn't allow much to be done. May as well stick Sunny Day on here, even if it doesn't faint, Sunny Day can always be useful, especially if you switch to a different Pokemon (or allow Sunkern to faint). Or if you use it with Chlorophyll. Leech Seed and Toxic are basically there if you think Sunkern can survive long enough to use these moves. SolarBeam needs to be on this moveset if Sunny Day is in use, and for the sake of having a higher damage inficting move. Otherwise, there isn't much else to explain about this moveset, you know what to do, and that's not use Sunkern. EV Training:To get the most out of your Sunkern...Max out the EVs in Defense & Special Defense...with any extra going to Speed. Strategy for Contest Ability:Chlorophyll Item:Green Scarf Nature:Calm/Gentle/Careful/Sassy Leech Seed Grasswhistle Giga Drain Endeavor If you do the attacks in this order for the contest then you shouldn't have any problems. 1st:Leech Seed 2nd:Grasswhistle 3rd:Giga Drain 4th:Grasswhistle 5th:Endeavor Rinse and repeat as needed. Strategy against Sunkern Sunkern's Defenses are both equal and really weak so any volley of attacks will kill it easily...trust me. Join me later for another late-night POTD! Until then...kudos. |

![]() Politoed, The Frog Pokémon. If Poliwags and Poliwhirls hear it's cry...they will gather from far and wide. When three or more are together...they sing in a bellowing voice. The curled hair on it's head is proof of it's king status. The longer and more curled the hair is...the more respected it will be by it's peers. The best moveset for Politoed would have to be... Ability:Water Absorb Item:Salac Berry Nature:Timid Psychic Surf Ice Beam Hidden Power Fire Politoed is best as a Special Sweeper and with fairly decent stats it should last in battle. Surf is for STAB and Ice Beam is to cover the weaknesses to Grass types. The HP fire can be replaced by almost any special Hidden Power, make sure it covers any weaknesses in your team. EV Training:To get the most out of your Politoed...concentrate on maxing out the EVs in Special Attack & Special Defense for Politoed with any remaining in HP. Strategy for Contest Ability:Water Absorb Item:Blue Scarf Nature:Modest/Mild/Rash/Quiet Hail Ice Beam Blizzard Water Pulse If you do the attacks in this order for the contest then you shouldn't have any problems. 1st:Hail 2nd:Blizzard 3rd:Hail 4th:Ice Beam 5th:Water Pulse Rinse and repeat as needed. Strategy against Politoed Politoed has pretty strong defenses...but his Physical Defense is weaker than Special, so if you can get any attacks that are super effective against it. (Thunder, Grass etc.) That's all for tonight folks. Join me tomorrow when I do another extreme update. Until then...kudos. |

He's catching up for days missed. Although I do think this is awesome and all, I must say that since I'm not playing pokemon I've started to read less and less. -_-Good idea but I think that now not many people read it so you may want to stop and save yourself some time. If anyone else reads them every day then by all means keep going on it's really kool, but if no one reads them then its almost a wasted effort.
I used to read the whole thing, later I just skimmed through it, and now I'm just looking at the picture to see which one it is. It's just too long. -------------------- --------------------

Today marks the official release date of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, and to kick it off, I'm back, and the POTD is hitting the big time. You may notice my specialty in the POTD is different from Akira's. My focus will be primarily on battling and providing various movesets for each POTD. And without further ado, here's our POTD:
![]() Charizard, the flame Pokemon. Known for its fiery breath, this Pokemon can easily melt boulders and unintentionally cause forest fires. As its rage grows, its tail flame burns a white-blue color. Also, when this Pokemon uses fire attacks such as Flamethrower or Heat Wave, its tail burns more intensely. Charizard is a very versatile Pokemon. It can learn a variety of moves depending on how you raise it. Let's take a look: For an all-around Pokemon , use the following moveset: Flamethrower Dragon Claw Earthquake Aerial Ace/Fly Flamethrower is a great fire attack, as it provides a good attack as well as accuracy. Dragon Claw is a great move for Dragon-types that are resistant to fire attacks. Earthquake is for those annoying Electric-types that can clip your Charizard's wings, and Aerial Ace/Fly is a solid STAB move against Fighting types or Pokemon with low Defense. For a Physical Sweeper, use the following moveset: Earthquake Return Iron Tail/Brick Break Aerial Ace/Fly Earthquake is used against other Fire-types, such as Flareon or Ninetales. Return is a must-have for a physical powerhouse, as it is the strongest normal-type move in the game as of now. Iron Tail/Brick Break are great against Rock-types, which have a double advantage over Charizard. Aerial Ace/Fly is in there for STAB. Here's an interesting moveset that takes advantage of Charizard's new move, Blast Burn: Blast Burn Double Team Smokescreen Rest In this moveset, your goal is to up your evasion, decrease your opponent's evasion, and Blast away. Rest is in there just in case you get hit. Be careful with this moveset! If you use it wrong, you will get Burned! Items and EV's: If your Charizard is all-around, give it either Charcoal, Sharp Beak, Soft Sand, or Dragon Fang. What item you choose depends on what move you take a liking to tha most. Raise your Charizard in Special Attack and Attack. If your Charizard is a Physical Sweeper, use Choice Band to raise his attack even more. Concentrate on its Attack and Speed while you raise it. If your Charizard is a Blast Burner, have it hold either Leftovers or Chesto Berry. Put everything into Special Attack, and the remaining EV's should be in Speed. Well, that about wraps things up for the Charizard POTD. See you all next time! -------------------- Better watch out come Pokemon Pearl....
I'll be using Doridon, Elekible, Golduck, Heracross, Metagross, and Dorapion to totally own you. |

Okay...here's some important POTD info that I just caught word of...it may or may not be of importance to you fans/readers.
1.As of yesterday (if you haven't noticed), I am no longer the person who is in charge of this thread or the only contributor. Zigsta has jumped back into the fray to help me out since school has started and all...and I'm becoming rather busy and can't get solid daily updates like I have promised...I'll work on this. 2.Also...the way that Zigsta and I post POTDs are rather different. I try and keep my POTD posts all-around and on the "general" info, whereas Zigsta concentrates more on the battling and moveset strategies. So don't freak out just because we post in a different style...it's basically the same content in a different writing style/order. 3.I'm not sure when I'll really have time to update this week since we're planning on getting Broadband DSL soon and our internet is down at my house (which is where I post most of the time...especially for POTD stuff). So you may or may not get an update today...don't count on it. Just some info that I thought you might be interested. If you're interested in helping out with this then PM me or Zigsta by October 1st and you're basically in as a staff member/writer. Don't be shy. |

Today's pokemon of the day is... Koffing and Weezing!!!!
![]() OK, so is anyone here thinking, "why Weezing? Weezing's terrible?" I know, I know, as a guy whose had Sandshrew and Alakazam as the backbone of his team since day one on Blue version, I wasn't too impressed at first either. But while he may be a poison type (often considered worst type in the game), his battle abilities are great. In terms of stats, Weezing sports an impressive physical D, respectable Attack and Sp. A. numbers, mediocre Sp. D. and he's slow as a rock. However, his real strength in his weaknesses. Now that he sports the new Levitate ability, Weezing's only weakness is to Psychic type attacks. This means he has a great Physical D number, and nothing particularly able to pierce it efficiently. Among his resistances are grass, fighting, other poisons, and immunity to ground. My recomendation for a Weezing would be the following: Nature: Relaxed Held item: Quick Claw Ability: Levitate EVs: Max in D, none in Speed, and balanced between all else Move set: Sludge Bomb, Haze, Fire Blast, Explosion Alternate move ideas: Willowisp, Shadow Ball, Flamethrower, Thunderbolt In terms of nature, heightening Weezing's physical D isn't a bad idea if you want to make a real survivor out of him. However, it also varies greatly by your moves, since if you have no special attacks, you may as well take a chunk out of that. But if you do, then go with speed reduction, since there's no saving that stat on Weezing anyways. With his D, he doesn't need it all that bad. In terms of EVs, that's up to you, and depends on your Weezing, and while some say you sholdn't divide EVs between the 2 attacks stats, you'll see why Weezing may want to do so in just a moment. OK, Sludge bomb is there for a simply powerful STABed (Same Type Attack Boost) attack of 135 base power. It has only one advantage (grass), but shoulld work very well against anyone not particularly resistant to it. Next the move that gives Weezing his greatest significance: Haze. No team should be without a hazer (or phazer). This makes it so that Weezing can be used to prevent opponents like the Cursing Snorlax from powering up too much and sweeping your whole team. Muy importante. Next is Fire Blast. Flamethrower fits just as well really, but Weezing may be willing to take the boost in power since he receives no STAB on it. Remember what I said about dividing EVs before. Some people don't like to do it.... I'd like to see how their Weezings do against Skarmory, Forretress or many other notorious physical walls. Fire blast give weezing a few more offensive advantages too. Finally....KABLOOEY. THis one's pretty self explanitory. If you can't beat em any other way, Weezing can take 'em out with him by using explosin. Just remember that he's slow, so you have to anticipate it early. As for alternate moves... willowisp is another of significant strategical importance. It's not so much the burning, but the fact that burns also lower the opponent's attack power, making it good against strong physical attackers. Also, if you're dead set against dividing attack EVs, and want an all physical Weezing, then Shadow Ball is a good option. Some claim it makes up for his psychic type weakness. I say it's a waste since weezing's poor speed and Sp. D, make his chances of surviving a psychic attack long enough to fight back pretty much nil. As I said before, if you want more accuracy, you can use Flamethrower instead of fireblast, and likewise, if you want a different kind of Special attack (or even perhaps a SP. Attacker Weezing), he can also learn Thunderbolt, to give him a few extra offensive advantages. I'm outta here. Today's pokemon of the day is... Umbreon!!!
![]() Well, if it isn't the darkest and most defensive of the Eevee evolutions. Umbreon is lauded for its defensive abilities and is one of th greatest and most popular toxic trappers in the game, able to do so in more ways than one. In terms of stats, Umbreon has very high D. and Sp. D. (a little higher), with mediocre attack, SP. A, and Speed. Its HP is also above average. In terms of weaknesses, Umbreon must beware of fighting and bug type moves. It sports resistances to ghost, other darks, and complete immunity to psychic attacks. My idea for an Umbreon would be... Nature: Bold (attack -/ Defense +) Held item: Leftovers Ability: Synchronize EVs: Spread however you wish between HP and the D stats Move set: Mean look, Toxic, Confuse Ray, Moonlight Alternate move ideas: Protect, Double Team, Attract, Baton Pass, Faint Attack For its Nature, anything that lowers an attack stat and raises a Defense stat works here. I chose bold, since it may behoove Umbreon to heighten its physical D, since that's the lower of its 2 D stats (though it's still very impressive). For its EVs, divide as you please among its D, Sp. D, and HP, according to what you think your needs are. For a held item, Leftovers are great for any toxic trapper simply looking to outlast its opponent. As for its ability, synchronize should ward off those who wish to interupt with status effects. However, this could be a bad thing... A truly clever foe may use this against Umbreon, by using Umbreon's synchronize to get themselves afflicted with a status anomoly more desirably than toxic, such as paralysis. So be careful who you use Mean look on. While Mean look may seem useless in-game, it is essential against humans who may switch in a less desirable foe for Umbreon upon seeing your strategy, as well as simply switching out and using heal bell or aromatherapy. Next up is the toxic trapper essential...Toxic. This is pretty self explanitory, as it's the main way of wearing down the foe. Then there is confuse ray, which will decrease your opponents chance of successfully damaging Umbreon to a mere 50%, as well as cause it to do a little more damage to itself. Finally is Moonlight, which allows Umbreon to regain HP as fast as the opponent can dish it out on its superb D stats (hopefully). In the realm of alternate ideas, protect is always good. Using it every other turn allows you to have more rounds where they simply lose a little more life, and you simply gain some from leftovers, and this could easily replace confuse ray. Double team could also serve instead of Confuse Ray to add killer evasiveness to Umbreon's great defenses. Attract is also good, especially along with confuse ray to cause "contraction", which lowers the foes odds of launching a successful attack to a mere 25%. Still, its a little risky since it depends on gender (something pokemon like Starmie or Metagross don't even have). Then there's baton pass. For those who haven't tried it, Mean look can be baton passed, meaning that you can mean look a foe in there, then baton pass off to whatever member of your team appears to be the most desirable opponent for it. Finally, for those who just MUST have a regular offensive move on there, I gave you Faint attack due to STAB and guaranteed accuracy, though I can't strongly reccomend it. Well, that does it for our little black toxic trapper. Tomorrow...I'm not sure but expect it to be good. Today's pokemon is... Kingdra!!!! (along with its kin)
![]() Kingdra here is known as one of the most well rounded pokemon ever created in a couple of key ways. Added in the second generation of games, Kingdra was created to better its evolutionary line with another evolution with a killer type combo. As a water/ dragon type, all of its weaknesses are canceled out except for that to dragon attacks, which ain't too common. In terms of stats, Kingdra is well above average in every single one (289 max) except for speed, in which it is still respectable (269). My Kingdra would be the following Nature: Neutral (Hardy, Quirk, any of those) Held item: Leftovers Ability: Swift Swim EVs: Well, rounded, but favoring Special Attack Move set: Return, Double Team, Ice Beam, Surf Alternate move ideas: Rain Dance, Dragon Dance, Attract, Double Edge In terms of nature, it all depends on your Kingdra, but if you prefer one that doesn't make use of its good physical A so you can really increase its Sp. A, that's a great idea too, and you might as well go with Modest. Same goes for EVs here. Leftovers work wonders with Double team, as they help replenish HP while your opponent is busy missing you. As for the Swift Swim ability, its your only option, but can be taken advantage of, just not by this move set. And now for the moves. Unfortunately, this is an area where Kingdra ain't so well rounded, as its options are very limited (the usual water and ice ones), though fortunately, it isn't totaly confined to one play style. First off, I have Return there to take advantage of Kingdra's good, if often forgotten, physical attack stat. Since ice and water often have trouble against many of the same foes, it's good to have a strong normal attack. Next is Double team, a move few can use well, but Kingdra is one of them. With its great type combo and stats, few things can KO Kingdra in less than three hits, so going for 6 Double teams is relatively safe, not to mention works with the Leftovers as previously mentioned. Then there are Ice beam and Surf, two good special attacks which come with the usual perks. Alternate moves are simple here. Rain Dance is great for making Surf very powerful, as well as boosting Kindra's speed, giving it good sweeping potential. Also, by replacing Return with this (probably a good idea) on the above move set, you can definitely go all out on raising the Sp. A. If you want physical attacks though, then maybe add Dragon Dance, as that can also boost Kingdra's speed, and make its Return very formidable. Attract is there for the usual reasons (50% of opponents moves fail), and Double Edge is there as an alternative to Return, depending on which you prefer. That's all folks. -------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Cid's DScc Podcast quote: "Waluigi gives you anthrax! HaHAH!!!" |

Today's pokemon is... Alakazam.
![]() Well, one thing that can be said for Alakazam is that he certainly isn't underused. Acutally, his capabilities are indeed amazing, a huge accomplishment for something as frail as he is. In the stats department, his Special attack is unbelievably high, not to mention his incredible speed. His Sp. D. is rescectable, but his Attack and physical D are obscenely low. He also has significantly lower than average HP, making even special attacks very dangerous. He sports resistance to Fighters and other Psychics, while he is weak against dark, ghost and bug. My Alakazam would be the following: Nature: Modest Held item: Lum Berry Ability: Synchronize EVs: Mostly in Sp. A, and either Speed or Sp. D Move set: Psychic, Reflect, Firepunch, Thunderpunch Alternate move ideas: Ice Punch, Recover, Calm Mind, Light screen, Kock off OK, Modest nature since his A is beyond saving, and, for Big Al, and extra 10% Sp. A. is a lot. Lum Berry is here to work with synchronize (switch in on status anomolies), though Focus band is good on frail things like Alakazam. And synchronize is better than inner focus, since flinching isn't a problem when your that fast. For moves, Psychic is a given. With STAB and Al's huge SP A, this will seiously maim all but the hardiest of Sp. Walls, and 1 hit KO most things with poor SP. D. Reflect is there to give Al some chance of surviving a physical attack. Fire and Thunder punch are there as two other good offensive elemental options. Slightly low in base power, but we don't think twice about putting an unSTABed brick break on physical sweepers. And for alternate moves, Icepunch can easily replace one of the other elemental punches depending on your team's needs, those were just mine. Next, and I know many were mad about its absence, is Recover. Personally, I feel that on something as frail as Alakazam, Recover is a waste since things can hurt him as fast as he can use it. However its not so bad if you've padded your defenses a little bit with one of the next two moves. Calm mind is great since it incraeases his already great SP. A, as well as his relatively decent Sp. D. Light screen is also good if you're satisfied with his attacking, and just want to boost his Sp. D quickly. Last is knock off, good on a speed guy like Al, in case you have a frequent opponent who relies heavily on a held item, like Thick Club Marowak. I tried to make it short and sweet. Until next time. Today's pokemon is... Ursaring!
![]() Today, I bring you Ursaring, a pokemon often compared to Snorlax, and who stands tall next to other physically powerful, versatile normal types like Tauros and Zangoose. For stats, Ursaring features very impressive attack, sorry speed, and his D, Sp. A, and Sp. D are all perhaps on the low side of average. However, his endurence is still decent, with somewhat above average HP. As a normal type, he sports only a sole weakness to fighting attacks, and immunity to ghost. My idea for an Ursaring would be the following: Nature: Adamant Held item: Leftovers Ability: Guts EVs: Mostly in Attack and HP Move set: Double-Edge, Rest, Sleep talk, Earthquake Alternate move ideas: Bulk Up, Swords dance, Return, Body Slam, Facade, Brick Break, Rockslide, Counter Well, the nature is the usual adamant for a physically inclined pokemon, and I recomend his EVs further support this, while they also help him to achieve some impressive HP. Leftovers work well with said HP, and Guts is his only option for an ability, and quite a nice one it is. As for this move set, it's pretty simple. Dounble-edge is great at 180 base power with STAB, and Earthquake sports a ton of advantages. Once low on HP, just rest (remember to anticipate with a slowpoke like Ursaring) and then sleep talk away so Ursaring just keeps pounding on his opponent with Double edge or Earthquake. Not rocket science, but I assure you, it gets more interesting. Now to introduce you to his alternate moves. For power-up moves, bulk up is a good option, as it further raises attack, but also could give him great physcial resistance considering his HP. Swords dance is also good if you just want his attack power to be scary-high. Next, is a nice selection of STABed normal type attacks. I always consider Return and Double edge an equal trade off (102.3 BP vs. 120 BP with recoil), though body slam should also be considered, since with his speed, Ursaring wouldn't mind the paralysis. Then there's the infamous Facade. Combined with Guts, when Ursaring has a status condion, it will have a 315 base power including STAB (70 x 2 x 1.5 for stab x 1.5 for guts), making Ursaring a frightening Juggernaut; its definitely one of his best move options which I did not include. Then there are always brick break and Rockslide if you want other solid physical attacks to expand Ursaring's advantages. And last is counter. With his only average D and high HP, ursaring can do a lot of damage with this. One fighting attack probably won't KO, him, but will do a ton of damage, damage that can be doubled and thrown right back at the opponent and most certainly KO it. I'm done. Go on, scram.
