If anyone actually believed those games were coming free then they must still believe that little gnomes make their car move by running around in those hamster wheels.

Provided you can store the ROM on the Revolutions Memory card, I don't see why it would be particularly costly or difficult for Nintendo to at least supply original NES games for free over the wire. Obviously they don't want to provide anything for free, but it would be a nice incentive for those who are inclined.

Then again, perhaps it's only a smaller market segment that would be interested. It's no secret that Nintendo targets kids, and are the younger crowd really that interested in twenty year old games?

Oh well. I'm sure they have a plan.

I agree 100% - I just question how much money there is to be made on twenty year old games vs. the selling power of "Hundreds of games FREE!" on the dinky purple box...

There's no money to be made giving them away. Obviously because they'd be free, but you forget they take a loss on hardware sales. Offering a free library of games from the get go wouldn't help sales, any console (apparently even the Phantom) will have a built in audience that's going to buy up the launch shipment and keep sales going for a while, offering hundreds of free games would make more sense financially later in its lifespan to attract the more casual buyers that didn't rush out to get one already.

And a million lonely fanboys cry out...

Aren't Nintendo allegedly the only one of the big three that DON'T take a hit on their consoles?

Perhaps Revolution will change all that.

Either way my point still applies. They don't need bonus features to sell it to early adapters, people like us will buy it just because it's there.

At the last report I heard Nintendo had something like 6 billion dollars in the bank. Say it out loud, 6 BILLION DOLLARS! Unlike MS who has reportedly lost hundreds of millions just during the lifespan of the Xbox. Sony is in a better position, but I think that even if Nintendo "fails" again with this console, they'll still live to fight another war for the next generation. I say "fail" because they've made money off of the GameCube, they haven't lost a single cent because they're smart and good at what they do. You rip them for their games looking muddy and whatnot, but you'd love for them to make games on the Xbox 360 or PS3? It sounds like you want to play them, but you're scared that people will think less of you because you've got a console with a handle. For me, I'm a lot more happy with the games they make than the stuff that's out on the PS2. I haven't bought one single game for the PS2 in the entire time I've had it, and it's been a year.

Yes, I want them to stop making hardware.

Put the games out for the other systems, take advantage of the sweet graphics and power of the new systems, but just keep the fun. This really has been my point the whole time.

Nintendo has fun games, I feel like a broken record here... It's just that their hardware isn't in the same ballpark as the competition. I strongly believe that 2-3 times more powerful than the current 'Cube just isn't enough to compete with the big boys.

Yeesh, I'm sure that your 2-3 times more powerful was taken out of context somewhere along the way (lost in translation most likely) because there's absolutely no documentation of it. You haven't shown me any and until you do I won't believe it. Miyamoto has gone on record to say that the Revolution will be just as powerful as the other two consoles, to me that doesn't mean 2-3 times more powerful than the GCN, it means that it'll be right there spec-wise with the 360 and PS3. We'll see and when they actually release specs you can bash them or praise them for possibly having hardware even more powerful than the other systems, but until you show me documented proof, I'm prepared to take Nintendo at their word that it will be a viable system for the next generation.
