LittleBigPlanet, MotorStorm, and Assassin’s Creed Coming to the PSP in 2009

MCV is reporting that Sony and Ubisoft announced today at the Destination PlayStation retailers event that LittleBigPlanet, MotorStorm, and Assassin’s Creed are coming to the PSP later this year.

LittleBigPlanet for PSP will be basically the same game as the one available for PlayStation 3 and it will allow players to create and share game levels on the PSP.

MotorStorm: Arctic Edge for PSP will feature new racing arenas not featured in the PS3 version.

“These are just the start of a stellar line-up of games coming to PSP this year, positioning 2009 as the biggest year for PSP to date,” said Sony.

“There are a lot of big claims in the gaming industry but we’re confident when we say that 2009 is going to be an exciting year for PSP,” added Mark Hardy, European MD, SCEE.

“Our fans have demanded big PSP titles and this year, we’re going to deliver again and again. With Resistance: Retribution, already on its way to stores, PSP gamers are going to get one big franchise after another.”

At the Destination PlayStation event Ubisoft also stated that a game based on Assassin’s Creed is also coming to the PSP in 2009.

I wonder if you will be able to share PSP LittleBigPlanet levels with the PS3 version?

LittleBigPlanet and MotorStorm: Arctic Edge are titles I know my son and I would play on the PSP. Maybe I will need to dust it off and install my new screenguard in preparation for these upcoming titles.

I haven’t played my PSP since I bought Patapon last year.

Try out the demo for Loco Roco 2 and the Phantasy Star Portable demo as well. It’s at least a reason to use the thing again. Both of them available from the PlayStation Store on either the PSP or PS3.

LBP will be a different game on the small screen and by that I mean that it’ll be a lot harder because everything will be much smaller and physically more difficult to see.

I don’t know that this is the boost the PSP needs. The thing needs more original games. I was looking on the PlayStation website and they have all of four releases this month? Weak. That’s one-tenth of what the DS releases on a typical Tuesday.
