Egyptian action-shooter puzzle game continues to create casual game addicts.
DALLAS (December 12, 2007) - Leading casual game developer MumboJumbo launched the latest installment in their LUXOR franchise of action-shooter puzzle games today with the unveiling of LUXOR Pharaoh’s Challenge for the Nintendo DSTM platform.LUXOR Pharaoh’s Challenge offers fans of the game new Egyptian worlds to explore and addicting puzzle play to conquer. With new power-ups and blessings, LUXOR Pharaoh’s Challenge brings all of the pyramids, temples and marvels of ancient Egypt to Nintendo DSTM players. The game was previously launched for the PlayStation®2 in November and will be available for the Nintendo WiiTM and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system in January 2008.
The Egyptian-themed casual game for the Nintendo DSTM will hit the shelves of national retailers just in time for holiday shopping at an MSRP of $29.99. The National Retail Federation reported in November that video games are one of the top ranking toys for boys in 2007, with 43 percent of shoppers polled planning to purchase toys this holiday season.
Since the LUXOR franchise first launched in 2005, the ancient Egyptian-themed games have been downloaded more than 65 million times worldwide and have sold more than 500,000 units at retailers nationwide. The game’s popularity is a prime example of the expansion of the casual game industry, which is growing at a pace of 20 percent a year according to the Casual Games Association.
