Nintendo 3DS Pre-Orders Now Being Taken at GameStop; Trade in Your Old DS and Get $100 Credit Towards the New System

The next-gen system will be available March 27 online and at North American GameStop locations.

GRAPEVINE, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–GameStop (NYSE:GME), the world’s largest multichannel video game retailer, announced today that it is now taking pre-orders at for Nintendo’s revolutionary new handheld gaming system, 3DS. Both the Cosmo Black and Aqua Blue colors are currently available to pre-order in stores and online at

“Nintendo 3DS will transform the handheld gaming market,” said Bob McKenzie, senior vice president of merchandising at GameStop. “Last week, I had the chance to play Super Street Fighter IV 3D on the system, and seeing is definitely believing with this platform. It is an amazing 3D gaming experience that doesn’t require special glasses to become immersed in the games.

“We are also excited to announce this next-gen handheld technology will be available to demo at GameStop stores nationwide in late March. I’m eager to see customers’ reactions,” stated McKenzie.

Beginning Monday, Jan. 24, customers who trade in a DS Lite, DSi or DSi XL towards the purchase of a Nintendo 3DS will receive in-store credit up to $100. See store for details.
