Phantasy Star Portable Coming to PSP

The latest issue of Famitsu has information stating that Sega will be releasing Phantasy Star Portable for Sony PSP in 2008 in Japan. The game is being developed by Alfa System and is basically Phantasy Star Universe with the Ambition of Illuminus expansion included for the PSP. It will also include a new original story for single-player campaign.

Phantasy Star Portable will also include a 4-player co-op mode over Ad-hoc mode, but there was no mention of an online multiplayer mode as of yet.

I was sooo excited when I read this over at 1up’s site, until I read that it was co-op. If this game does not have online, then it will be a bust.

I would have rather seen the PSO on the PSP versus the PSU, whatever…

It’ll be the same as Monster Hunter then. No true online support. This works well in Japan, but I don’t think it flies in the US at all.

Someone needs to figure out how to rig these PSP Ad-hoc games to let you play online via the ad-hoc mode through your PC like they did with Halo on Xbox and I think they did it with Nintendo DS games or was it GameCube? I forget what that software was and if it is even still around.

The Halo on xbox was done thru gamespy, and that would be a great solution to the PSP.
