Players can unleash their imaginations in an innovative open world designed to allow players to freely choose toys and create epic play sessions.

BURBANK, Calif. - (June 15, 2010) - Disney Interactive Studios today announced the release of Toy Story 3: The Video Game, an innovative take on movie-based video gaming that gives kids, parents and all gamers the ability to play their way through the Toy Story universe. Available now on all major gaming platforms, fans can play as Buzz, Woody or Jessie in storylines inspired by the Disney•Pixar animated film, “Toy Story 3,” opening in North America on June 18, 2010. Players will also be introduced to a unique Toy Box mode which allows them to interact with Andy’s toys in a malleable open world setting that constantly evolves with the player’s actions. In addition, the PlayStation®3 (PS3TM) computer entertainment system version allows players to play as the evil Emperor Zurg and is one of the first titles to market featuring games specifically designed to be played with the upcoming PlayStation®Move motion controller, scheduled for release this fall.

Toy Story 3: The Video Game is now available in retail stores nationwide for WiiTM, PlayStation 3 system, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Nintendo DSTM, Windows-based PC/Mac and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system.

“From initial concept to the final product, we knew we had something special on our hands that would appeal to audiences across all ages,” said John Blackburn, vice president and general manager of Avalanche Software. “The game’s Toy Box mode allows anyone to return to their childhood and relive those magical moments where toys came alive and did anything and everything their imagination dared.”

Toy Box mode lets players choose which activities they want to do and the order they wish to do them. The more they use their imagination and create their own story, the more they get rewarded. All play styles are welcome in the game - players can choose to be achievers and complete missions to earn gold and unlockables, explore the deep environments, or customize buildings and townspeople. By purchasing and adding Deluxe Playsets into the Toy Box mode, such as Sid’s Haunted House and Lotso’s Enchanted Glen, new themed characters, customizations and toys will be added.

In Story mode, players can experience key film moments, interact with new and returning characters, and visit locations seen in the film through a multitude of missions. As missions are completed, players can earn rewards, including gold and new customizations purchased from the toy catalogue. These items can then be used to change and introduce new ways to play in the Toy Box mode.

“With Toy Story 3: The Video Game, we wanted to capture the fun of imaginative gameplay that kids experience when mixing and matching items from their toy boxes at home,” said Craig Relyea, senior vice president of global marketing, Disney Interactive Studios. “By combining these unique play mechanics with characters, settings and scenarios from the movies, fans will be amazed at how closely this mirrors an actual toy playing experience.”

Offering different feature sets, while still embracing the same characters and settings as the console versions, are the handheld games where the toys journey through the real world and must come up with unique ways to escape hazardous situations. In Playtime mode, which is exclusive to the DS, players can find out what happens when Andy’s away and toys decide to have some playtime inspired by the popular tower defense genre. Players will also have the ability to collect prestigious honors and achievements, and gain new costumes and accessories for DGamer avatars.

The PSP system version boasts unique offerings as well, including a battle against the evil Emperor Zurg. Players will also help Sheriff Woody keep the Old West safe in exciting mini-games where they tackle toy-sized challenges in a big, human world. In addition, bonus content can be accessed from the PlayStation®Store.

About Disney●Pixar’s “Toy Story 3″

“Toy Story 3″ welcomes Woody (voice of TOM HANKS), Buzz (voice of TIM ALLEN) and the whole gang back to the big screen as Andy prepares to depart for college and his loyal toys find themselves in… daycare!  These untamed tots with their sticky little fingers do not play nice, so it’s all for one and one for all as plans for the great escape get underway. A few new faces-some plastic, some plush-join the adventure, including Barbie’s counterpart Ken (voice of MICHAEL KEATON, a thespian hedgehog named Mr. Pricklepants (voice of TIMOTHY DALTON) and a pink, strawberry-scented teddy bear called Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear (voice of NED BEATTY). Anderson (”Cars,” “Monsters, Inc.”), and written by Academy Award®-winning screenwriter Michael Arndt (”Little Miss Sunshine”), “Toy Story 3″ is a comical new adventure in Disney Digital 3DTM.
