Shrek the Third Review

If you enjoyed the movies this game may just be what you are looking for. Shrek the Third mixes combat, puzzles, mini games and comedy into one tightly packed DVD. You are able to play as Shrek, Donkey, and Puss In Boots in this wacky adventure.Shrek is a fun game with a few hang-ups that can become irritating at times. First the camera doesn’t always cooperate with your character’s movements. This really makes some of the puzzles more challenging than they actually are. Sometimes the camera will move and block the character and you will be on a tiny ledge inches from your death and unable to see where to go to pick up a coin you jumped to the ledge to get.

The game’s graphics were good and really helped bring the characters to life. There wasn’t much more they could do to improve the graphics without losing the cartoon feel, so overall they did a great job. The original voices from the movies also helped make it seem like you are playing the movie. Every once in awhile a character would randomly sputter a joke or funny comment which really helped keep the mood.

After beating the game there is little to no need to play through the game again, this is mostly because of the lack of any difficulty settings. However, the mini games do give players a little extra play time and for the most part are generally a good time. The game play suffers from some repetitiveness but the mini games and puzzles that come along are a refreshing break from the repetitive combat.

Final Verdict

Overall I would recommend this game to die hard fans and younger fans of the Shrek movies. The game is a fun game that can leave older fans craving a little more.
