E for All 2008 Show Highlights: Fun-filled Activities, Celebrity Appearances, Great Games, and More at E for All, October 3-5, 2008 in L.A.

Framingham, Mass. - September 30, 2008 - IDG World Expo’s Entertainment for All® Expo (E for All®) has an all-star line up for 2008, including fun-filled activities, celebrity appearances, and, of course, great games. Hosted at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Friday, October 3 through Sunday, October 5, 2008, this year’s E for All will include a variety of activities for all ages and interests. All Games Network’s “Meet, Greet and Beat The Champs”: E for All and the All Games Network will assemble championship gamers from the past, present, and future to participate in a one-of-a-kind classic video game event, where attendees will have a chance to mingle with some of the best classic game players of all time and challenge them in games including Donkey Kong, Spy Hunter and Missile Command, among others.

Gaming Bootcamp: Learn from the Pros: This year, on Saturday, October 4th at 11:30am and at 2:30pm, E for All will host two on-site Bootcamps open to all show attendees to provide an introduction to the world of video games, from basic “how-to’s” to gaming terms to what’s new and next in games. Game Developers Conference (GDC) Game Career Seminar: Known as the leading career development event in the industry, the Game Career Seminar  offers developers the opportunity to learn new skills, network with peers, and advance their careers in video game and digital development, adding an important educational opportunity for gamers who want to get into the video game business. Great Games: Attendees will be able to test drive Ubisoft’s Far Cry 2, Tom Clancy’s End War and Shaun White Snowboarding along with Activision’s Guitar Hero World Tour before they are able to buy them later this year. In addition, Target, the official retail sponsor of E for All, will showcase some of the hottest new video games and accessories for the holiday season at its Target pop-up store. In addition to offering games from this year’s exhibitors, the boutique will also stock the most popular games, hardware and accessories available, allowing show goers to purchase some of the hardest-to-find titles like Wii Fit, Mario Kart, and Madden NFL 09.

IndieCade Independent Games and Gamemakers: IndieCade, the premier organizer of gatherings for independent gamemakers from around the globe, will showcase a number of independent games and artist presentations, feature more than 20 independent games, and offer a special lounge to host game play, as well as a series of gamemaker talks and presentations. 

Intel Extreme Masters Global Challenge: The Intel® Extreme Masters Global Challenge in Los Angeles invites the top Counter-Strike and World of Warcraft eSports champions from Europe, America and Asia to struggle for $80,000 prize money at E for All. Overall, the global eSports stars are competing to qualify for the Intel Extreme Masters Global Finals and $750,000.

The League of Legendary Gamers: Five of the nation’s most recognized gamers, Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel, Billy Mitchell, Justin Wong, Todd Rogers and TriForce, will come together at E for All to collect food for the Los Angeles Food Bank in an effort to reduce local hunger for the holiday season. Attendees who bring a can of non-perishable food will have the opportunity to play against these legends.

Los Angeles International Children’s Film Festival: The fourth annual Los Angeles International Children’s Film Festival will be held at this year’s E for All Expo, offering attendees the opportunity to view more than 70 animated and live action films, and documentaries from around the world.  In addition, the show will host basic animation workshops, geared for game and film enthusiasts of all ages.

Los Angeles Unified School District: On Friday, October 3, 2008, up to 600 Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) high-school students will participate in the E for All Education Zone.  At the all-new Education Zone, participating students will obtain a deeper understanding of video games and how they can be incorporated into their future careers from speakers - including Fatal1ty - who will describe their experience with video games and ways to break into the industry. The event will take place in the E for All Education Zone, Booth # 701.

Target North American Guitar Hero World Tour Challenge: The first of its kind, the North American Guitar Hero World Tour Challenge, sponsored by Target, will allow attendees to rock out against each other on stage for more than $2,000 in cash, prizes, and merchandise. For those who don’t want to take the stage, Target will also have playable versions of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed from LucasArts and, before they hit store shelves, Shaun White Snowboarding from Ubisoft and Activision’s Guitar Hero World Tour.  Qualifying rounds will take place on Friday and Saturday at the Guitar Hero World Tour kiosks in the Target booth in the challenge area (booth # 823).  The finals will be held on Sunday at 1:00pm.

Treadmill Race Across Azeroth: On Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 2pm, Harcos Inc. (Booth #1034) will invite attendees to run on a treadmill that is hooked up to World of Warcraft so they can see how difficult running in a virtual world can be. Participants who are able to run for five minutes without slowing down will get a six-pack of Mana Energy Potion.

World Cyber Games: More than 200 of America’s best video gamers will compete for spots on TEAM USA at the World Cyber Games USA 2008 National Final. World Cyber Games (WCG), the recognized leader for international video game competitions, welcomes more than 200 of America’s very best elite gamers to the Los Angeles Convention Center from October 3-5 to compete at 14 top video games and the chance to take home a share of more than $100,000 in cash and prizes in the WCG USA National Final (www.wcg.com/usa). More importantly, twenty five (25) WCG USA gold and silver medalists will earn coveted spots on the roster of gaming’s only TEAM USA, earning the opportunity to battle the world’s elite players at the WCG 2008 Grand Final taking place in Cologne, Germany November 5-9.

In addition to these fun-filled activities, several celebrity gamers will hold appearances at this year’s E for All, including the world-famous professional video gamer, Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel, and Hollywood Yates, best known as “Wolf” on NBC’s American Gladiators. Fatal1ty will appear throughout the show, while attendees can meet Wolf at the Fusion-io booth hourly throughout the show.
